And Just Like That....the Steelers Season is over

Final Score: Kansas City Chiefs 42, Steelers 21

Okay fine I'll say it, I thought the Steelers played better than I thought they were going to.

In all seriousness, we all knew this team wasn't going to get very far in the playoffs. I will from now on be rooting for the Buffalo Bills, even though the Bills Mafia give me nightmares.

So what's up with Ben Roethlisberger? Every day this week I have expected to wake up to the news that Ben has announced his retirement. I guess he's waiting for the season to officially be over? Or maybe it really was all a prank and he's got one more year in the tank! According to some news sources his WR core wants him back for one m0re year, and since it appears that Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins will be battling for QB1 next year, all Pittsburgh fans want Roethlisberger back for another year too.

Rumors are already flying that Pittsburgh is vying to take University of Pittsburgh's QB Kenny Pickett at #20 in this year's draft. People seem to have mixed feelings about this on the interweb, but as someone who doesn't watch college football I cannot comment.

Who else is out after this year? Tomlin confirmed that Keith Butler, defensive coordinator for the Steelers, will be retiring after this year. Butler has been in the position since 2015 when he replaced Dick LeBeau. Most sports blogs (Steelers Wire, ProFootball Talk, and FanNation) seem to believe that the next man up for the job is defensive assistant coach Teryl Austin.

Many Steelers fans, yours truly included, are waiting with bated breath to hear if we re-sign (not resign, looking at you Twitter) Juju Smith-Schuster and Joe Haden. Losing Juju this offseason would break my heart. Juju himself has said he would love to stick around for another four years.

Joe Haden also wants to stay in Pittsburgh, which is honestly surprising seeing how our defense was ranked this season (#24 in yards allowed, #20 for points allowed and dead last in run defense).

Anything else we need to know going into the offseason? The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently ranked 4th in the Metropolitan Division, and as of January 16th at approximately 11:15 pm this blog became a Penguins blog.
