The Best Steelers of All Time*

*According to one girl on the internet
1) Troy Polamalu. I feel like this one doesn't need any explanation, but in case it does....I grew up in the Troy Polamalu era (2003-2014) and nothing, literally nothing got me more hype on game day than seeing the hair flying over the line of scrimmage for a sack.
He was just so good. Arguably one of the best strong safeties to ever play the game. Looking back on his stats now, I cannot believe he only had 32 career interceptions, because I can vividly remember at least five. Add to all that the fact that he was in Moana and you have my all time favorite Steeler player.
The rest of the players on this list are in no particular order.
2) Hines Ward. The fact that other teams fans constantly complained about how he played dirty just means to me that they wish he was on their team. I am such a sucker for a great smile, and how can you beat this one? Granted, it's probably easier to smile when you are playing your best, but I also remember him dropping the ball or getting hit really hard and still standing up smiling. I see a little of the same attitude in Juju and I love it.
3) Heath Miller. I don't have a weird reason to love this guy. He's just all around great. HHHEEEEATTHH!
4) Juju Smith Schuster. Remember when Juju was a rookie and he posted that Instagram video of his mom telling him he still had to do chores around the house? I loved that so much that he deserves a spot on this list, even after he posted that annoying Tik Tok where he had some of the Steelers dance to their preference of women (huge eye roll) AND even after he did the crate challenge a week (ONE WEEK) before the regular season started. Still a great player though who is super fun to watch play and who I personally want to see succeed.
5) Najee Harris. I know I discussed this in an earlier post but I can't get over how excited I am for Harris, mainly because of his charity work. I hate how he has already gotten some hate for trying to hurdle players in the preseason and while I know no one wants to see him get hurt, I really love his hustle.
6) James Harrison before he broke my heart and went to the Patriots. Who can forget when he legit body slammed that Browns fan who ran drunkenly onto the field midgame? Has anything funnier ever happened during a Steeler Game? I don't think so. Also, those workout videos where he used to bench like 200 pounds were always fun to watch.
7) Jerome Bettis. I am not one of those lucky Pittsburghers who see Steelers players everywhere they go, but I did see Bus in Costco once. My relationship with him is a bit contentious (my family loves telling the story of when he fumbled on the 2-yard line in the AFC divisional playoff game against the Colts and I ran up to my room sobbing. Bettis still deserves to be on this list because while this is one of the few moments from his career I can still remember well, he undoubtedly did some other cool things. I will always love his retirement story: born and raised in Detroit, he retires right after winning a Super Bowl in Detroit. That is some Hollywood storyline magic.
8) Charlie Batch. Who doesn't love a Pittsburgh bred Steeler? Batch was the second ever Pittsburgher to play as quarterback for the Steelers (the first was Terry Hanratty in 1969). He also does a lot of charity work with underprivileged youth and the environment. He won the first ever Jerome Bettis award for his charity work!
Honorable mention goes to Terry Bradshaw because even though I never saw him play a single game he was the only thing that made Failure to Launch worth watching besides Zooey Deschanel.
I also ran a short poll on Twitter and got the following results (I only posted anyone who got more than one vote):

So what do you guys think? Who is your favorite Steeler player of all time? Did I miss anyone? Did I age myself too much by mainly picking early 2000's players?
